1.) ✨ Key Features

- Deactivation via taskbar – The tray icon (next to the clock) offers a full context menu for quitting, showing/hiding, and quick settings.

- Fly-out on all four screen edges – The key feature: The window docks to the left, right, top, or bottom and expands when the mouse hovers over it.

- Bidirectional drag & drop – Drag content in and out of other programs.

- Automatic format detection – The tool automatically recognizes whether you've dropped text or an image.

- Permanent automatic saving – Everything is instantly restored after a crash or restart.

- Tray minimization – When not in use, it can be completely minimized to the system tray.

2.) 🔥 All features in detail

1. 360° Fly-Out Freedom (All 4 sides)

- Dockable anywhere: Use the tool on the left, right, top, or bottom edge of the screen – according to your workflow.

- Smart animation: In docked mode, only a narrow, barely noticeable indicator strip remains visible. As soon as the mouse touches the area, the notepad extends smoothly and elegantly.

2. Revolutionary Drag & Drop (Bi-directional)

- Auto-activation: When you drag text or images onto the tabs in the fly-out, the tool automatically recognizes the format and activates the appropriate tab (Text or Image). No manual switching is necessary.

- Workflow bridge: You can not only drop files into the fly-out , but also drag and drop content directly from FlyOutNotepad into other programs – e.g., Photoshop, Outlook, Word, web editors, or IDEs.

- Images are displayed: Dropped images are shown as previews in the Image tab – you can immediately see what you've added.

3. Dynamic window handling

- Resizable size: When undocked (classic window), the size can be freely adjusted as needed – ideal for large images or long blocks of text.

- Tray option: When not in use, you can minimize the tool completely to the system tray (next to the clock) – no window, no taskbar clutter.

4. Professional tab management (up to 20 tabs)

- Structure: The main window (Main) offers space for up to 20 client tabs , which are controlled via the side/top/bottom tabs in the fly-out menu.

- Mix mode: Start with one text tab and one image tab by default – and expand them as needed (e.g., 15 text tabs, 5 image tabs).

- Clear All Tabs: With one click, you can reset everything to its initial position – perfect for new projects or after a workday.

5. Maximum data security & persistence

- Automatic saving: All content (both text and images) is permanently saved – without you ever having to click "Save". After a PC restart or even a crash, everything is instantly restored.

- PNG clipboard: Full support for the PNG clipboard, including GDI+ (alpha channel/transparency). `Ctrl+C` and `Ctrl+V` work perfectly for text and images.

6. Native Performance

- C++/WTL Power: Lightning-fast response with minimal RAM consumption. No heavy frameworks, no Elektron latency – just pure speed.

- Context menus: Each tab has its own right-clickable context menu with all special functions and their corresponding keyboard shortcuts.

3.) 📦 Further specifications & options

Characteristic
detail
Program size Very small – approx. < 500 KB (no setup, just an EXE)
CPU usage Virtually 0% idling – resource-saving
RAM usage Minimal (typically < 10 MB)
installation None required – optionally available as a portable Windows tool
Registry entries None – leaves no trace on the system
Background service Embeddable – runs discreetly in the tray
Multilingualism Fully customizable for all languages (via language file)
operating system Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 (32 & 64 bit)

4.) Conclusion

Whether it's graphic design, programming, support, or everyday office work – FlyOutNotepad is the place where you can temporarily "park" data, move it between apps, or quickly jot down notes. Go there, drop it in, and get back to work.

5.) Quick FAQ – Quick Help & Tips

Q: Can I place multiple images at once?
A: Yes. Drag and drop of individual image files works directly. For multiple images, repeat the process – each one will appear in the current Image tab (older content will be retained; you can copy it manually).

Q: What happens when I copy an image from the internet (Ctrl+C)?
A: FlyOutNotepad intercepts the PNG clipboard. Simply press Ctrl+V in the Image tab – the image will be pasted, including transparency.

Q: How do I dock the window to another side?
A: Drag the window title to the desired screen edge (left, right, top, bottom) – the tool will snap automatically.

Q: Will my data disappear if I switch to Portable mode?
A: No. Standard and Portable modes use different storage locations. If you switch by renaming the EXE, the program loads the currently active configuration – your data is retained in both modes.

Q: Can I use it in the to-tray instead of FlyOut?
A:  Yes, and you'll find an entry in the context menu of the tray icon.

Q: How do I completely close the program?
A: Right-click on the tray icon → "Exit". As long as the icon is visible, FlyOutNotepad is running in the background.

6.) Special feature: The true portable mode (`_p`)

By default, the program saves its settings in the user directory (`%APPDATA%\FlyOutNotepad`) to comply with Windows conventions. For advanced users, there's a special `_p` function:

To activate fully portable mode:
1. Simply rename the file `FlyOutNotepad.exe` to `FlyOutNotepad_p.exe`.
2. The program recognizes the `_p` in the filename and automatically switches to portable mode.
3. The configuration file (`FlyOutNotepad.ini`) and all saved content are now
stored directly in the same folder as the EXE file .

Advantage: No traces on the host computer, no registry entries, no hidden AppData folders. Your personal configuration and data always remain with the program – perfect for USB drives, cloud synchronization, or multiple workstations.

7.) Quick guide for the first 60 seconds

1. Start – FlyOutNotepad appears as a small, dockable window.
2. Dock – Drag it to the right edge of the screen. It will disappear, leaving only a thin strip.
3. Park text – Select a website URL and drag it to the "Text 1" tab – done.
4. Park image – Drag an image from Explorer to the "Image 1" tab.
5. Use – Drag the saved text or image from FlyOutNotepad directly into your target program.
